HE received the Irani ambassador to Cuba

Ambassador Rashid Mairza Al-Mulla received at the Embassy on Tuesday 09/07/2019, the Ambassador of Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Cuba, Mr. Rashid Bayat Mokhtari, where they exchanged views on bilateral relations and matters of mutual interest.

The ceremony was a political-cultural event attended by a large number of assistants, with the participation of the member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Mr. Victor Gaute, and the president of Prensa Latina, Mr. Luis Enrique González. The Agency and its staff also received awards from institutions such as the Federation of Cuban Journalists and the National Union of Culture. Prensa Latina agency regularly broadcasts the State news and embassy activities. It is characterized by its positions that reflect the foreign policy of the State and to highlight its achievements and modern advancement.


The State of Qatar Stresses That Its Measures are Consistent with WTO Obligations, Expresses Confidence in Success Its Defense Against UAE's False Claims

Doha, May 29 (QNA) - The Government Communications Office in The State of Qatar said Wednesday that the UAE made yesterday a request to the World Trade Organization (WTO) to refer, for a second time, a complaint it made about alleged Qatari restrictions on the import, distribution and sales of goods to a dispute-resolution panel. And that the alleged Qatari restrictions did not exist, and that the Emirati exporters suffering is responsibility of the Emirati authorities export restrictions. The Government Communications office pointed out that the UAE was ignoring its restrictive trade procedures review and even published media statements claiming that Qatar had "recognized" that its actions violated WTO rules. It stressed that all national actions in this regard had been, and still are, in line with their commitments towards WTO, which has rules that measures aimed at protecting consumers.


The statement of the State of Qatar on Assigning of its Exclusive Economic Zones

Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Ahmed bin Hassan Al-Hammadi and Chairman of the Ministry’s Committee on the Law of the Sea issued a statement on the special economic zone of its main coasts and the coasts of the islands under its sovereignty in the waters of the Arabian Gulf. This area extends to a distance of 200 nautical miles, or to the borders of the territorial waters of neighboring countries. Here Qatar exercises its sovereignty over the natural resources of this economic zone for the purpose of exploration, exploitation, management and development of these resources, as well as the purposes of marine scientific research, establishment of marine facilities, man-made islands taking the necessary measures to protect the marine environment. Foreign ships are not allowed to fish in the exclusive economic zone mentioned in the declaration unless they obtain a license. Foreign ships that want to conduct scientific research or hydrographic surveys in the area must inform the designated Qatari authorities before carrying out those activities. The declaration was made in the context of the State of Qatar's commitment to the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea of 1982, particularly articles 74 and 75.

His Excellency spoke about the following issues: 1. The Sports Agreement between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Cuba 2. The importance of sport in the State of Qatar 3. the participation of the Cuban athletes in the State of Qatar (world championships in gymnastics, boxing, swimming and Paralympic games). 4. The Embassy´s organization for annual sport activities on the occasion of the celebration of the Sports Day in the State of Qatar, in cooperation with the National Institute of Sport, Physical Education and Entertainment (INDER), of the Republic of Cuba.
