His Highness, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, "may God protect him,"
announced today, Tuesday, in the opening speech of the 49th regular
session of the Qatar Consultative Council (Shura), that the elections
to the Council will be held in October 2021, in accordance with the
constitution that was submitted to a referendum in 2003, and was
approved in 2004. This is an important step in strengthening the
traditions of the Shura Council in the State of Qatar, and a change
in its process, which contributes to the development of the
legislative process with the participation of a wider range of
citizens.
