Word from the Ambassador Jamal Nasser Al-Bader

I am pleased to welcome you to the website of the Embassy of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Cuba. Diplomatic relations between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Cuba were established in 1989, with the State of Qatar standing out for being the first Gulf country to open its embassy in Havana on September, 2001. It should be noted that bilateral relations are based on the strong ties of friendship between His Highness Emir Father, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, and the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz. The excellent level of relations is evidenced through the exchange of visits by high rank officials. The most recent was the visit of His Highness the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, to Cuba in 2015, which marked a milestone in the history of friendly and affective relations between the two countries. During the visit, several cooperation agreements were signed, covering a wide range of sectors. These relationships have been strengthened in recent years through coordination and cooperation in international forums and organizations. In such cooperation is included the mutual support for the candidacies of both countries for membership in international organizations, in particular, United Nations institutions. As a result, and one of the most notable achievements of the joint collaboration, the Dukhan Cuban Hospital in Qatar was inaugurated in 2012, which has become a reference center for cooperation between our countries and the region. In my capacity as the fourth Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Cuba, I will do everything within my reach, to preserve and strengthen the ties of friendship and historical cooperation between the two countries. Also, the Embassy of Qatar in Cuba will continue its work to support the continuous development of bilateral exchange and cooperation for the good, peace and development of both peoples. I wish that through the website of the embassy we can inform you about the news related to the activities and events of the embassy and provide updates regarding the bilateral relations. This page also aims to provide information at a political, economic, social, and cultural level about the State of Qatar and the Republic of Cuba. On the other hand, a historical overview of the development of bilateral relations can be appreciated, while providing, at the same time the necessary information on consular issues. In addition, it provides you with the contact details of the diplomatic officials of our embassy. Thus, I invite you to follow us and browse the official website of the Embassy of the State of Qatar in the Republic of Cuba, and explore the information available. Likewise, we would appreciate receiving your valuable suggestions and opinions to improve the management and services of this website.
