The permanent delegation of the State of Qatar to the United Nations organizes a virtual seminar on football and peace


The permanent delegation of the State of Qatar to the United Nations, with the permanent delegation of the United States of America, the United Nations Office for Counter-Terrorism, and the Football for Peace Organization, organized a virtual seminar in New York on football and peace on November 11th, where the participants in the symposium under the Title "Football for Peace: Unleashing the Power of Sport" highlighted Qatar's partnership to prevent and combat violent extremism and terrorism.

The participants also highlighted the World Cup hosted by Qatar in 2022 and its role in empowering youth and women in the Middle East, the Arab world and the whole world.
In the opening speech of Her Excellency Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al Thani, Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations, said that the State of Qatar is truly aware of the power of sport and is investing it to its fullest potential, and is including it for local cooperation and development as a means to address social issues and sustainable development. HE noted the achievements of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy in this field.
