The Embassy of the State of Qatar in Cuba organized  on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, in cooperation with the National Institute of Sport, Physical Education and Recreation (Ministry of Sports) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education, a marathon with more than 300 students from the primary and secondary schools in Havana. The three-kilometer marathon ran through the streets of Miramar, where the embassy and several foreign embassies are located. The participants in the marathon returned to the starting point, where the Ambassador and a number of officials from the Ministry of Sports, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education handed over the prizes to the winners.

After returning to the starting point of the marathon, ​​a festival of children's games (domino, chess, rope jumping, sack-race, soccer, stilts and other various games). During the Games, three prizes were presented to students who responded to questions related to sports in Qatar (the date of organizing the sport day, Qatar Airways sponsorship of Barcelona team, ​​the organization of the World Cup in Qatar).

14 of the most prominent athletes in the Republic of Cuba, who won a world champion in the field of jumping, boxing and volleyball, participated in the sport event.

The event was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Sports, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education.
