HE Ambassador Rashid Mairza Al Mulla met with Cuban journalists from various Cuban media (Prensa Latina, Cubavision, Radio Reloj, Radio Havana and Canal Havana) on March 22, 2018, as part of the embassy's media outreach activities. The audience was large, including journalists previously associated with the Embassy, ​​as well as a number of young Cuban journalists.

The Ambassador gave a speech to the media and began by congratulating them on the occasion of the Cuban Press Day on March 14. He also pointed to the importance of the role of the media and its impact on the political, cultural and social aspects. A new type of media has recently entered this field, like the Internet and social networks, which have often competed with television, in terms of influence and dissemination.

He also referred to the importance that the State of Qatar attaches to the media, citing Al-Jazeera. He said that it is characterized by having a large team of correspondents who are in most parts of the world and the conflict zones, and that they transfer all what is happening in these places, in the moment it is happening.

He added that the media, like the diplomatic work, has the goal of strengthening relations between countries, by reflecting the image that  gives the viewer or reader or listener a clearer picture of the policy and culture of these countries.

He expressed his thanks to a number of Cuban media for their interest in the Embassy and the dissemination of the news of the activities organized by it, another indicator of the good friendship and distinguished bilateral relations between the two countries.

A music concert was offered by a Cuban band performing songs from Cuban heritage and a collection of well known musical styles.
