The State of Qatar has strongly condemned the use of the Syrian regime of chemical weapons in the eastern city of Duma, and demanded an urgent international investigation and the bringing of war criminals in Syria to international justice.

"The State of Qatar's deep shock at the horror of this horrific crime that shook the conscience of humanity," the State Department said in a statement today, and affirmed that "the impunity of war criminals in Syria led to their continuing to commit further violations and atrocities and undermined efforts to achieve justice to victims ".

The statement stressed that "any political solution in Syria will not lead to a successful and sustainable outcome without accountability of those involved in these terrible crimes," describing the silence as a "shame on humanity."
