The State of Qatar welcomes the announcement made by North Korean leader, Kim Jong-Un; today, the freezing of nuclear tests of the launching of missiles and the closure of the nuclear testing site in the north of the country.

The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs considers the Korean declaration a step that will pave the way for defusing tension on the Korean Peninsula and achieve peace and stability in the region and the world at large.

The Ministry expresses the hope of the State of Qatar that Pyongyang will follow the Declaration by further steps leading to the denuclearization of North Korea; while reaffirming its full respect for its international obligations, all the resolutions of the Security Council and the ratification of the Comprehensive Convention on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons Nuclear tests, which would help halt the nuclear arms race in the world.
