Qatar Strongly Condemns Arrest of a Qatari citizen in Saudi Arabia

The State of Qatar expresses its strong condemnation and rejection of the arrest of Qatari citizen Mohsen Salih Saadon Al Qurabi by the Saudi authorities.

The arrest and detention of the Qatari citizen, Mr. Al Qurabi, by the Saudi authorities as he was returning from Yemen  on April 21, where he visited his family and without committing any wrongdoing and without any charge, is flagrant violation of national laws and international human rights charts.

The State of Qatar states that Mr. AlQurabi is aged 63 and he suffers from chronic health problems that require continuous health care.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls for a speedy release of Mr. AlQurabi and calls on the concerned authorities in Saudi Arabia to bear their legal and moral responsibilities in maintaining his safety and health as well as to provide him with the necessary health care and to ensure all his legal rights to defend himself on allegations that might be attributed to him and to enable him to contact his family and the competent authorities in the State of Qatar to communicate with him to check on his health.

The State of Qatar calls for not resorting to arbitrary measures against people because of political differences.
