The electronic newspaper of the National Institute of Sport, Physical Education and Recreation (the Ministry of Sports) of Cuba published the news of the celebration of the Qatari sports day in Havana, entitled "Cuba celebrates the sports day of Qatar", as follows:

HAVANA - As part of the joint efforts between the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Cuba and the National Institute of Sport, Physical Education and Entertainment in Cuba, a sports event will be organized for the second year on the occasion of the National Sports Day in the Arab country, that takes place every second Tuesday each year.

According to the Department of International Relations of the National Institute of Sport, Physical Education and Entertainment, the main activity will be a school football match at the same day of the sports day at the 5th Street Sports Arcade at the intersection of Street 60 in Miramar (Playa).

Representatives of the Cuban sports authorities and the Qatari diplomatic corps are expected to attend the event in Havana.

Qatar National Day of Sports is a festive day established by His Highness Emir father Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani to improve the health of the country's population.

According to the official data of the state itself, millions of people are overweight and obese, as a result of not practicing physical activity.

However, for two decades the emirate has emerged as a venue for major regional and global sporting events, including the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
