The State of Qatar participated in the virtual ministerial meeting of the "Least Developed Countries", held during the seventy-fifth session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The State of Qatar was represented by His Excellency Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. His Excellency referred to the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, which, he said, affects the Least Developed Countries particularly. Afghan peace negotiations start in Doha

Qatar Participates in Arab Ministerial Meeting

The State of Qatar participated in the meeting of the Ordinary Session / 154 / of the League of Arab Council at the ministerial level, which was held via video conference technology. The delegation was headed by His Excellency Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. In his speech to the meeting, His Excellency renewed the heartfelt condolences of the State of Qatar to the government and people of the Republic of Lebanon for the victims of the Beirut port explosion, and referred to the various assistance provided by the State of Qatar and its contribution of 50 million US dollars. He referred to the international community’s failure to protect and stop the systematic brutality of the Syrian people, killing and displacement at the hands of the Syrian regime, and stressed the need for the international community - especially the Security Council - to protect civilians, allow humanitarian aid to arrive, and solve the displacement and refugee crisis. The Lebanese President receives the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs

Government Communications Office statement in response to Human Rights Watch report

Human Rights Watch intentionally misleads public opinion in its report issued on August 24, where it repeated in its last report the policies followed in the State of Qatar regarding the current situation of foreign workers, which does not reflect at all the reality of the vast majority of them, and that they are not subjected to any form of violations with regard to their salaries, with the exception of a small number of individual cases, noting that the number of these cases has witnessed a noticeable decline due to the fundamental and sustainable change brought about by the laws and measures taken by the state.
