The meeting was attended by HE Ambassador Rashid Mairza Al Mulla.

H.E. Dr. Hamad Al-Kuwari, Minister of State, delivered a lecture on Monday, 29 January, at the Fourth International Conference for World Balance in Havana, which he started by mentioning the honorable victory of the Qatari football team. His announcement was recieved with a huge applause and words of congratulation by the audience. His Excellency spoke about the importance of the work of the Cuban writer and poet, the hero Jose Marti. He also spoke on the role of cultural diplomacy in bringing people together, combating violence and discrimination, and concepts of peace and mutual respect. He also stressed that blockades do not benefit the peoples, and more importantly it does not subjugate them, no matter how long and tough they are.

His Excellency the Ambassador held a luncheon at his residence on Sunday, 27 January, in honor of the Qatari delegation headed by the Minister of State Dr. Hamad bin Abdul Aziz Al-Kuwari.

Dr. Hamad bin Abdul Aziz Al-Kuwari, The Minister of State in the Emiri Diwan, referred to his visit to Cuba, which he said was a beautiful island and a country with a special history. He also reviewed the struggle of the Cubans to gain independence from the Spanish colony, and its contemporary conflicts with its great neighbor the United States of America. Cuba is a hot spot between the two superpowers and what happened in the Bay of Pigs in the 1960s, that brought the world to the brink of a global war between the Soviet Union and the United States. He also highlighted the role played by Cuba in the liberation movements in Africa, and spoke about the historical importance of charismatic figures, such as Guevara and Fidel Castro. HE said that he will be accompanied to Cuba, to participate in the Fourth International Conference on International Balance, a delegation composed of the Qatar Foundation (Education Above All), the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and the Higher Committee for Heritage and Projects 2022. HE the Minister said that the lecture he will deliver at the conference will speak about José Martí, the spiritual father and hero of Cuba's independence, honored by the UNESCO for his humanistic thought and his words.
