Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs: The State of Qatar is witnessing important developments in the legislative field for the promotion and protection of human rights

During the speech of His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, to the high-level segment of the fortieth session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, he addressed the following points: • Important developments in the legislative field of human rights in the State of Qatar. • The process of sustainable development is continuing, according to the Qatar National Vision 2030, despite the siege conditions. • The role of the State of Qatar in the efforts to achieve peace and stability, and it provides development and humanitarian aid, and strengthens strategic partnership with international organizations. • The opening of the United Nations House in Doha. • The need for a comprehensive solution to the Gulf crisis. • HE appreciated the mediation efforts of His Highness the Emir of the State of Kuwait. • The situation in Palestine and Syria and Yemen. • The need to address the real causes of terrorism, and that the war against it should not become a pretext for human rights violations.



The Embassy participated in the ceremony of the honorary doctorate awarded to the historian of the city of Havana

The Embassy participated on Thursday, February 14, 2019, in the ceremony of the honorary doctorate awarded to the historian of the city of Havana, Dr. Eusebio Leal, presented by the Higher Institute of International Relations of the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The ceremony was attended by President Miguel Diaz Canel, and all Cuban Ministers, and a large number of heads of missions and diplomatic corps accredited in Cuba. Dr. Leal gave a speech on the history of Cuba and the most important historical figures that influenced his personal, professional and academic life, especially the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, with whom he had a close friendship. Dr. Leal is credited with restoring the city of Havana and all the ancient cities of Cuba.


The Cuban Ministry of Sport´s newspaper published news of the celebration of the Embassy of the Sport Day in the State of Qatar.

The Embassy organized football match in occasion of the National Sport Day

The Embassy organized a friendly football match of 2 primary school teams in Havana, in the occasion of the Sport National Day, in coordination with the Institute of Sport, Physical Education and Recreation (INDER), considered the Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Cuba, with the attendance of Mr. Antonio Eduardo Becali, President of the National Institute of Sport, Physical Education and Recreation (as Minister of Sports). The audience included more than 500 primary and secondary school children, as well as officials from the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education, representatives of the Government of Havana, teachers, and a large number of guests from the diplomatic corps, a number of distinguished Cuban athletes known as "glory of sport". In conclusion, the Embassy presented a golden certificate of appreciation to the winning team and a silver certificate to the other team. A certificate of appreciation and gratitude was also given to the Minister of Sport. The activity had an extensive media coverage
